Sadie Renee: 9 yr old black & tan female, spayed, docked tail and cropped ears. Tall, 13-14 lb. Owner give-up.
She is very shy, but once she warms up, she is a doll baby. She loves to cuddle, especially at night. She's 10 years old, and has some vision problems, but gets around well, and is otherwise in good health. She should not go to a home with small children. She will be getting vetted tomorrow @ Petguards.

Aaron: 6 yr old red male, neutered, docked tail and cropped ears. 12", 10 lb. Shots up-to-date. Rescued from shelter.
Aaron came from a high kill shelter, and was on his last day, when he was rescued and sent to a safe haven. This great little pin is housetrained, walks well on a lead, and will go in the crate if he has to.. but really does not like the crate. He gets along with the other dogs living in his foster home.
This little one has so much love to give. He always has a smile and a wagging little stub to show you how very happy he is.. .My grandson who is nine years old was visiting for a few days last week, and Aaron became Nata's shadow.. You did not see one without the other. The two of them watched tv, played in the yard, went for walks, and even slept together. Nata (my grandson) was working on teaching Aaron tricks.
So if your family is looking for a great family dog, look no further... Aaron is here and waiting. . He is a real treasure, and he will give you more love and devotion than you can find anywhere.

Connie: 2 yr old red female, spayed, docked tail and cropped ears. 11½", 10 lb. Shots up-to-date.
Connie came from a commercial breeder in MO. She came into rescue with six other min pins and they have all found homes except for her.
Connie does not yet know how to show you she loves you, but you can see she wants your love and attention.
She has been with me for a few weeks, and now she will come to me and want me to pick her up and carry her around. This little girl sleeps with me, and wants to be right next to me..
I think at one point in her life she was abused, but in time the memories will fade. Connie smiles I think. When you look at her pictures you will see her smiling. In one of the pictures she is looking at me, and in her eyes you will see the love there.
When strangers come to the house, she will bark, and seems afraid. We are working on showing her that people are good and will not hurt her. Connie wants to be far away from strangers, but when she met John (the wonderful man that took her pictures) she was sweet to him.
I would like a home for Connie that will give her time and understanding to become the loving dog that she can be. Connie is very easy to love because you see each day how she is coming out of her shell. This little pin has become quite special to me, and perhaps your family is the one for her?

What a lovable little dog. Bubba is great with kids and other dogs. Bubba loves my Doberman and really wants to play with him, but obviously my Doberman is so big that he overwhelms Bubba! Bubba is a smart dog and is doing well on his housetraining. He is very sweet and he just loves to be loved. If you are looking for a tiny companion, please come meet Bubba. You won't be sorry!

"Hi! My name is Kedzie! I'm a fun loving little girl who is looking for my forever home. I get along well with people and other furkids. I'm not too sure about cats though because I haven't been around any. I love playing and like nothing better than to get a good game of tug of war going! I am very proud when I win! I love to play with my people or other dogs. I also love my stuffed toys and I just love squeaker toys! I love to play fetch but don't count on me bringing it back! I'm getting better at returning it but my foster mom says I need to work harder on it!
I like kids but I'd do better with ones over 6 years old. I'm not mean, I'm just a very enthusiastic playmate! I do well in a crate and I'm housebroken if kept on a schedule. And a really good thing is I'm not a barker! I'll let you know when someone comes and occasionally when I'm excited but that's about it.

Zuse: 5 year old male,Chocolate/Rust,neutered,docked tail and cropped ears,13" and 16lb, shots up to date.
Zuse, according to Greek mythology, is a supreme God. This little guy may not be a God but he is certainly supreme.
He was a family pet who was sold to a puppy mill because of his outstanding looks I'm sure. Zuse is friendly and loves people. His favorite place is sitting on your lap and just being with you. Zuse is very laid back and would make anyone a loving companion. We're working on house breaking and he's crate trained. Zuse is a very happy guy and he shows it by his tail that never stops.
He gets along well with other furkids but we're not sure about cats because we don't have any. Zuse is fine with kids 5 or older.
Zuse has become a favorite with his foster mom but she knows he would love to have a family of his own. Could you be that special family?

Sophie was rescued from a breeder. This little one is shy but very loving. She is housetrained, crate trained, gets along with all the dogs living in the home. Some of Sophie favorite things are cuddle time, sunning herself , and just enjoying her new life.
She has learned that humans are good and she can trust them. Sophie has not barked once since coming into rescue, and comes to me for love and affection. This little girl has had many puppies in her short life, and now it is time for her to have her own forever home where she is the center of attention. Sophie is a great girl, and now is waiting for her new life to begin.

Isabella is a wonderful little girl who is looking for a forever home. She is an insulin dependent diabetic, who needs 2 shots a day, but take her shots very well. Bella was spending her time riding in a semi, but had some issues with the other minpin, so was turned over so she could find a new home. Isabella does fine in a house with other dogs, so maybe the truck was just too small for her to share space with another dog. :) If you would like to add Isabella to your family, contact her foster dad.

Ginger is a lovely red female minpin who is just a little snugglebug. She loves to curl up with you for a nap or to sleep in bed all night. She enjoys snuggling on the couch for tv watching and just absolutely adores children. She does get a bit overexcited to see children, so would probably do best with children over the age of 5. Pepper is a nice little dog who is a bit fearful at first. He was a stray who didn't seem to have known many kind people. He was very distrusting at first and felt he had to put on a big bad front to try and scare everyone away. It almost cost him is life at the shelter. Once he found out people can be nice, he has turned into a totally different dog. He must have been out on his own for quite awhile as he was very skinny when he came into rescue and we are still working on adding a few more pounds to him. Look out! Elvis is in the house! Elvis is a grand large chocolate minpin who would make a great agility or running partner. He has lots of energy and goes and goes and goes. Elvis gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home. He seems to be doing well on his potty training if kept on a schedule. Elvis loves everyone he meets, but might be a bit to rambunctious for small children, so a home with kids over the age of 8 would be best. Tucker: 4 yr old black & rust male, neutered, docked tail and cropped ears. 12", 10 lb. Owner give-up.
Tucker is a typical Min Pin, in that he loves to play with stuffed animals (especially if they squeak) and to burrow under blankets. He would love to go exploring and hiking with you. He's great with strangers and usually comes to sit at their feet in the hopes of getting a treat. He is the happiest when he's curled up next to you on the couch or snuggling with you under the covers. He loves to run, chase, be chased, wrestle and play with other dogs and doesn't seem to notice when they're a lot bigger than he is. Throw in a tennis ball, and he's one happy boy! He gets along with some cats, depending on the cat.
Tucker knows some commands, such as sit, come, and stay. He needs help with potty training, as his owners didn't have the time to consistently train him. He's a smart dog and should learn very quickly with someone who will take the time and give positive reinforcement.
The perfect home for Tucker would be with someone who has the time to work with him on potty training and take him out for exercise. A fenced yard would be wonderful and another dog to play with would make him very happy. Children make him nervous, so no kids, please. He has a wonderful, fun personality, and no behavior problems that we are aware of. Tucker is very sweet and we want to find him a home where he can get the time and attention he deserves.

Suzy: 8 yr old black & tan female, spayed, docked tail and uncropped ears. 11", 13 lb. Rescued from shelter.
She is beginning to get her girlish figure back having lost almost 2 lbs already and looking oh so cute! When you talk real cute to her she will cock her head and listen to you like you are saying something ever so important.
Suzy is a cuddle bug, what we call a "pocket pup". She will sleep in her crate at night or be happiest snuggling under the covers next to you. If you want a good tv buddy she will sit right next to you on the couch and watch movies.
She is house broken and does best with a doggie door.
She is very healthy, heart worm negative. She is very friendly with guests and loves to have her belly rubbed by just about anyone. She is a low maintainence gal who will steal your heart if you let her.

Odie: 7 mth old stag red male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 13", 9.12 lb.
This sweet puppy has done a lot of living in his 7 short months. Unfortunately, it wasn't all good. His leg was broken in two places a few weeks ago, but not fixed. He ended up being surrendered at a vet clinic. Then an angel from IMPS came along and took him home with her. Because he didn't get the care he should have when his leg was first broken, it was beyond repair and had to be amputated. The good news is, Odie is doing just fine and was walking on 3 legs the next morning after surgery. He is getting around wonderfully, able to get up the front stairs now and is playing with a ball. He likes to empty out the toy boxes all over the house. Odie is a snuggler and loves to be held. He is very active and will need a securely fenced yard. This guy is an escape artist if left alone-losing a leg hasn't slowed him down one bit. Odie rides very well in the car, enjoys sunbathing in the living room window, likes to be up on the back of a chair or sofa, burrows in blankets, and gets along with other dogs and the one cat he's met so far.
Odie shows some fear and timidity. We think he will get over his bad memories quickly with love and patience. He would do best in a home with no small children, but would love another small dog to play with. He's very smart and obedience class is recommended. Not only are they wonderful for bonding, but they also give dogs a confidence boost, which Odie could use, given what he's been through. He's a very sweet baby with years of love to give some lucky someone. If you think that could be you, please email his foster mom for more information. Odie should be recovered from surgery and ready for a new home by the end of April.

Ace is a great dog who gets along with other dogs and cats. He loves to ride in the car. He is housebroken using a doggie door. He just came into rescue, but so far we have not seen any bad behavior. I am a typical min pin-full of life, tons of energy, love toys and competitive. I love to wrestle, play ball, run and chase around with one of my foster sisters that is just as fast if not faster than any min pin I have ever seen. That is pretty amazing since she is a pug/doxie. I do have a quiet and shy side. I like to hang out with my foster family, watching moves and snuggling up with a blanket on my foster mom's lap. I even get along with the cats, though I do like to tease them a bit. I don't know my commands very good, but I am working on them. SEXY SENIORS/SPECIAL NEEDS DOGS LOOKING FOR LOVE
Since its inception, IMPS volunteers have dedicated themselves to rescuing Miniature Pinchers and doing their best to find the perfect forever home for them. Sadly, there are always too many dogs needing us, for the foster space available, so we have to turn too many away. Unfortunately it's usually the older/special needs dogs we have to say no to, since we know that they will probably not get adopted, and will remain for the duration of their lives with their kind foster families. We understand that everyone wants a younger dog, to have many years together, but where is the guarantee on that? Unfortunate things can happen to a dog of any age. Sure, if you adopt an older dog, you probably won't have it many, many years, but even if it's just 6 mos., isn't the mutual love given during that time, and the satisfaction of knowing you have helped an unwanted dog worth it? If you are an older person yourself, and adopt a young dog that outlives you, what is going to happen to it? You think family or friends will take it, but believe me, that is not always so. A lot of dogs we have, are from just that scenario. There are many benefits from adopting an older dog, since this is already long, we won't get into all of them, but if finances are a concern, the adoption donation asked is much lower on the older ones. Please find it in your heart to at least think about adopting a senior/special needs dog, or maybe you would like to become a foster home for one. Now, on to our Sexy Seniors/Special Needs babies. Each of them are very loving and need little care, mainly they need love. Some have problems that are typical in older dogs, some just have that distinguished gray look about them, but they all like to go outside and walk around and enjoy the sun. We love each of them and they are more than welcome to spend the rest of their days with us, but to have their own home with special attention would be better. Thanks for listening.

Romeo: 7 yr old black & rust male, neutered, docked tail and cropped ears. 10", 10 lb. Shots up-to-date.
Romeo is in perfect health. Has had his 3 year rabies, Lyme, kennel cough, and all routine vaccines.
He is potty trained and crate trained. He has been trained in obedience, Rally and Agility. He would love someone willing to take agility classes with him and to compete. Hopefully someone who is energetic & loves the outdoors. He is extremely high energy and needs daily vigorous exercise.
He is a dominant male, and he would be happiest in home where he is the only dog and can receive all the attention or one other small dog who is submissive.
He is a very sweet little dog who loves people. We believe he was abused as a very young puppy by a man because he is extremely fearful of men. He will bark, but if a man approaches he backs away. If cornered and tried to be picked up by a stranger he will get snippy, however he has never actually bitten anyone. If the new person ignores him and he is allowed to come to the person in his own time he does warm up and becomes quite friendly.

Lola: 1.7 yr old black & red/tan female, docked tail and uncropped ears. 13", 8.1 lb.
Lola is a beautiful black and red/tan min pin with adorable floppy ears and an expressive face. She came to foster care after a string of owner surrenders and some neglect. While still very thin, she has a good appetite. Lola had some behavioral issues with prior owner (fear biting, overprotectiveness of certain people, escaping from yard), but she has a lot of potential. Although initially very scared of strangers, she warms up quickly and is very affectionate. She is very energetic and playful but often calms down to snuggle. She loves to play fetch, squeak toys, and bound like a gazelle. She is housebroken and rides very well in the car. Lola has some aggressiveness toward other dogs and cats that may go away with time. Very sweet, smart dog who needs a patient owner in a forever home.

Pixie: 1 yr old, black/rust spayed female, 9.2lbs, docked tail, natural ears. Spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative.
"Hi, my name is Pixie! Guess what I did? I was lost and hungry so when I got a waft of bacon frying, I followed the scent. Ah, the smell got stronger so I started moving faster. Imagine my surprise when the door to the kitchen was open so I trotted in for my prize. Imagine the surprise on the family to turn around and find me in the kitchen with my tail wagging and my butt twisting. Being cute works wonders; I got a plate of bacon and eggs with a slice of toast. Yummy. "
Pixie tells a nice story but it was frightening for the family finding her in the kitchen. They were afraid she would be killed by their very large non-friendly dog. Lucky for Pixie they intervened before the two met. Pixie must have a guardian angel looking out for her. She was thin so she must have been lost at least a week. Making it a week in the country without encountering coyotes is amazing. Let's get this brave little girl into a home of her own.
Update: Pixie has taken to her new life with Gusto! She romps and plays and enjoys life like the a young pup should.

Sadie: 7 yr old black & tan female, 19 lb. Docked tail, natural ears. Spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested, on heartworm preventive and microchipped.
Sadie is a wonderful dog, very sweet and loving. She loves to explore the yard each day by patrolling the perimeter making sure no unauthorized critter gains access. She gets along with other dogs and cats. When she came to us, she had a weight problem due to poor diet, lack of exercise and a condition called low thyroid. Since she has been on her thyroid medication she has been steadily getting closer to her girlish figure. She is looking so good and obviously feels better as evidenced by her increased energy. The cost of the medicine is $7 to $10 per month. Unlike many min pins this lady does not bolt and is completely house and crate trained. The perfect home for this loving lady would be one that would give her a lot of attention, provide healthy food and regular exercise. She has years of devotion to give.

Zoe: 5-6 year-old female. 14", 12-13 lbs. Spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, tested negative for heartworms and on preventative.
Miss Zoe was taken into foster care after being found astray on private property. She definitely needed some TLC, but has responded to good care beautifully, and now she's ready to find a forever home. Her foster "Mom" says that Zoe is a very sweet and loving dog, full of energy and life. She loves to run and play with other dogs, and her favorite toys are the ones with squeakers! She is also a tug-of-war fiend, and will gladly play with you and a rope toy anytime. She's not a "barker" like some dogs are, but she has been known to steal slippers and run away with them if they're not put away properly! She's just helpful like that. :-) Zoe is also crate-trained and house-trained.
She loves all the attention she can get. When a potential adoptive family came to visit another dog in the house, Zoe was just an attention hog, and tried to steal the show! In spite of apparently having a bit of a rough life before she was rescued, she is now a healthy little sweetheart, ready and willing to shower affection on you and your family. Won't you let this sweet friendly girl into your home and life?

Tiny Red Rebel: neutered red male, docked tail and uncropped ears. 12", approx 12 lbs.
Rebel came to us after his family could no longer keep him. It was very sad but Rebel has adjusted very well. As a matter of fact he has thrived while in foster; as you can see by his pictures he is quite comfortable and relaxed. He is just a perfect dog and his foster mom stated he is absolutely the best dog. He is very loving and affection and so pleasant to be around. He likes to play with toys but only if you play with him. He likes attention but is perfectly happy entertaining himself by chewing on his bone.
You couldn't ask for a better dog; house trained and the best bed warmer. Email for more details on this very special dog.

Junior: Hello everyone out there. My name is Junior. I'm a little bitty baby boy just 4 months old. I am not ready to be adopted yet, but I wanted you to know my story so you will know how kind the folks here at IMPS are. You see, my owners didn't really pay attention to me and I wandered into the street where a big car hit me. My owners were not mean people, just careless. Then, instead of taking me to the puppy hospital, my owners took me to the shelter to be put to sleep. I was so scared and in so much pain. My back legs hurt so badly because they were broken and I had a broken pelvis. I lay in the shelter without treatment for four whole days but it seemed like an eternity because I was so scared and in so much pain. Then the lady from IMPS found out about me and swooped in like an angel and took me to the vet for immediate attention. I had two surgeries that helped piece my legs back together and the whole bill was over $2200. But the best part is that I am no longer in pain and no longer scared about what will happen to me. There will be some physical therapy, pain medications, and a long recovery in my future but my wonderful doctor says I will run and play again and I so look forward to that day. I love the sun! I am a sweet little boy and I really want a chance to live the perfect dog's life in the lap and arms of a family that loves me. Though I cannot come home with you right now, there are plenty of dogs on this website that can come home with you today!!!!! Please check them all out and please do not dismiss any dog because he has an injury or is imperfect, because they are all dogs and all are capable of giving a great amount of love. And please, if you can find it in your heart and in your wallet, please donate what you can to IMPS so they can keep saving dogs like me and help with my medical expenses. Remember, all these people are volunteers and all the money goes to helping dogs like me get ready to be a part of someone's family... a family like yours.

Jake is about 10 years old but not at all "old." He is vigorous, energetic, and enthusiastic about his people, walks, food, snuggles and much more. He is black/tan (some gray), about 13 lb., docked tail, natural small ears. He is a sweety, housetrained and cooperative. Jakey-wakey is up on shots, altered, microchipped. He does not try to dig out or escape to see what is on the other side of the fence. He gets along with everyone, canine and human. Jake is a special little joy.
Jake was found in Allen, Texas, and his home could not be located. He may have been de-barked as his bark is very soft. He loves walks, cuddles, food. He enjoys the yard but could thrive in an apartment if given nice walks. Recently he was diagnosed with diabetes. Early diagnosis and good care means he is doing well, no loss of eyesight or other effects. He eats special food and needs very little insulin (Vetsulin ®) With daily walks and the special food, he might need no insulin (no walks until his foster mom gets a cast off her leg.)

"Hi, I'm Gizmo the First because I was the first Gizmo they got in and now there are several of us. I'm 8.5 inches tall, 14 lbs., and 4 years old. I'm looooong on personality and cutes. My tail is docked, but my ears are all natural and very expressive. I'm up to date on my shots, neutered, heartworm negative and on prevention, so I'm ready to go!
I'm an easy going, active fellow who loves to play with toys and gets along with everybody - even cats! I can be your best buddy, keep you laughing, and cuddle with the best of them. I'm a bit of a ladies' man, but hey, I can hang with the guys just as easily. I haven't been around kids much so not really sure about them, but I'm guessing that if they will play nicely with me, I would like them too.

Dominic: 2 yr old black & rust male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 12", 13 lb. Shots up-to-date.
Dominic is a very laid back easy going small min pin boy of about 13 lbs. He is black and rust with natural ears that stick out sort of like Dobbie in Harry Potter with an adorable face and a docked tail. He was rescued from one of the worst cases of animal cruelty - a puppy mill that allowed not only min pins but other breeds of dogs suffer horribly in very bad conditions. Dominic was treated for heartworms but has now had negative readings, so adoptable now. He has really come out of his shell and enjoyed playing with the other dogs as Dominic is pretty shy at first. He still cowers when you go to pick him up, but I think it is more his personality now as opposed to fear and very endearing in my opinion. Dominic would be perfect for a retired couple or a single person that wants a more laid back, but very affectionate little boy and would benefit from a nice yard because he loves the outdoors only when you are out with him. Also, he needs a routine with a stable home environment to feel secure. He is almost always very shy at first, but then becomes very demanding about cuddles and love. He needs ONLY positive reinforcement due to his past and responds really well to it. He sleeps with his foster mom in her bed and only has an open crate with a bed in it that he like to sleep in, so we don't know how he would respond in a closed crate. He is penned as opposed to crated. We tend to think that he would do better in a no very young kid, no-cat home and only with a more laid back dog of like temperment. He does chase the cats when given the opportunity in his foster home but does not attack if he catches them. The reason why we believe no very young kids is because he is very delicate and would not understand children that don't know their boundaries. Dominic is a sweet, loving little guy that reacts to every cuddle and pet.

Faith: 2 yr old black & tan female, undocked tail and uncropped ears. 15", 12.8 lb. Shots up-to-date.
Faith is a beautiful and very sweet, shy 2-3 year old puppy mill rescue. She was brought to IMPS pregnant and gave birth to five pups. She is now spayed, healthy, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on prevention.
Faith is a work in progress and needs an experienced dog-lover owner. She is very shy of people, and it takes her quite a while to learn to trust and warm up. She needs a calm, patient, experienced adopter who is willing to let this girl blossom. You can thank the puppy mill for her fear issues. It took time to make her this way, it will take time to undo the harm.
She likes toys, and is learning to play a little with her foster mom. She likes to be near her person and follows everywhere. She is housebroken, uses the doggy door. She is learning how to walk on a leash - she's good, but afraid to leave the safety of her yard even with her pack members accompanying her. Faith is amazingly athletic and can jump a 5 foot fence with ease, but all she wants is back in her yard where she feels safe. A secure yard, with a tall fence is a must since she cannot be walked at this point.
She's not aggressive, gets along and loves to play with other dogs and even tolerates cats. She's very smart and attentive. She is better with women than men, and would do best in a home without children. It would help her if there is already a stable, calm dog in the family to model behavior for her.
She very much wants to give her heart to someone, and is making an effort to overcome her fears. If you can wait for the reward and appreciate the small victories in the meantime, please contact her foster mom, Katherine at minpinity@gmail.com.

Razz-Ma-Tazz is a delightful black and tan, all natural boy of 18 months, 12 inches tall, 10 pounds, and microchipped. He's up to date on shots, neutered and is microchipped. He's crate trained and housebroken. Razz-Ma-Tazz was brought into animal control with a severely broken rear right leg that had to be amputated. Razz-Ma-Tazz says he makes up for that with an all natural tail. He has not let this minor handicap slow him down one bit and gets around with no problems. He's pretty calm for a young min pin. He gets along with everyone: dogs, cats, and people of all ages. Razz-Ma-Tazz loves to cuddle and sleep under the blankets with you at night. He's just the sweetest little boy with lots of heart and love.
Tazz's story starts December 2007 with a phone call to me, from a vet tech working at Corpus Christi Animal Control. They had just taken in a little min pin boy, may be 10 months old at the most with a severely broken rear leg. The leg would be amputated. Her problem: she couldn't stand to see Taz recuperate after surgery on the cold cement of a dog run - would IMPS take him? She would nurse him through the first weeks of recovery at her home.
Off I ran to the animal shelter to get this guy, then handed him back over to the vet tech who became an IMPS volunteer. A few weeks later, I was back to see Tazz who was running his brains out on three legs, playing like crazy. Tazz is an all natural boy and seemed to think a good tail made up for any extra leg. He was so happy and upbeat - we couldn't help but think what an excellent example he would make as a therapy dog.
Tazz spent his early foster days with me, until he had healed completely. I could not continue to foster Taz as I had some larger pins (18 inches at the shoulder) and I feared they would hurt Taz in their rough and tumble games, as much as he tried to keep up with them. He was so little! He moved in with our volunteer Lori. Lori's two girls immediately took Tazz into their arms and made him at home. He could not have ended up any place better. Tazz is currently thriving with Lori's own IMPS dog, Lucky, and assorted other other pets that come through Lori's door.
Tazz is still looking for his forever home. We hope soon someone will see how amazing and special this boy is, and allow him to fulfill all the potential we see in him.

Ellie: 4 year old female, 12 inches tall, 11.8 lbs., spayed, up to date on shots, has gone through heartworm treatment and is now healthy and on preventative.
Ellie is an adorable and sweet girl! She needs lots of attention perhaps with a retired couple or stay at home person who will allow her to sleep with them and just cuddle and love on her a lot. She is about four years old and is all up to date on shots. I do suggest that she not be placed with children. I currently have kids age 4 and 16. Ellie does well but would rather have it quiet. She wants all of your attention. I have bought her some clothes and she seems to like them. During Halloween she dressed up as a pumpkin and participated in a contest. Please check her out. This is an extremely sweet and well-mannered dog who was a part of the Foster-to-Adopt program where the participant had opted to adopt when a family member had surgery and needed her to care for her.
Lucky is partially to mostly deaf and has lost one of his eyes, but that does not keep him from being a wonderful family member and full of energy. He gets around just fine, is just as happy as he can be, and just bucks and kicks up and runs around like a puppy. He loves to be cuddled with and petted a lot. He needs and deserves to be very much a part of a family indoors and does very well with the other dogs in my care especially a puppy that has endless energy. They play like they were always brothers. He was completely housetrained in his previous foster home as he has demonstrated for me as well. He gets along very well with everyone including children and cats and just now deserves the good life to be spoiled and made over. Lucky loves cushy warm bedding and lots of blankets to burrow in and will often times be sleeping when everything is going on around him. This is a blessing and quite a change from the hair trigger attention most min pins have - you can't get away moving from one room to the next without them being there. We are very excited to have this adorable little guy in our program and won't stop until we find the perfect forever home for him.

"I was initially turned in by my owner due to a divorce. She was very upset to leave me, but she knew it was best for me. I love to be held and sleep in bed with you. I like other dogs. I will dance for my dinner. I am crate trained but my new foster mommy has never had to crate me. I am a spry 7 year old loving sweetie pie. I really need someone who wants a loving companion and is patient while I adjust to my new home. I have tons of love to give that special someone. I love to play in the garden hose or the sprinkler my foster Mommy say's I have a bit of OCD when it comes to playing in the water but she says it is cute as can be too. I love to play fetch with the squeaky toys. I can sit when you ask but prefer to dance for my treats. I get really excited when it is treat time. I am a good eater and will finish my meals like a champ. I just need a family that wants a dog that is affectionate and a true companion. I want to know I am loved and will return that love many times over and then some! I am a bit needy, but all this shuffling around is really making me a bit insecure. I have now been with my foster family for several months and am not as needy but still love to show how sweet I am and snuggle with you. Will you be the one to love me with all your heart? Meet Chloe! Chloe is the Rescue Sweetheart of many of our volunteers. She was brought into rescue after her owners refused to come get her when she was picked up as a stray. Have you read the story of the Ugly Duckling? Well you would've had to look close to see the beauty of this dog, on the day she was retrieved from the shelter. On the outside, her coat was patchy to say the least; her skin scabby and on the inside she carried 2 pounds of bladder stones. Her ears were infected, her nails inconceivably long and she hadn't seen a bath in many a year. It's no wonder this little girl had given up. Sick and unwanted, still her eyes begged to be loved. What a beautiful face she has.
Well look at Chloe today! She's young, well trained, and loves to please. Chloe loves attention, Chloe's perfect home would be one with another fur-pal to romp with. She looks forward to watching a good movie on TV with her favorite person and hopefully you have just a little spare room in that nice clean bed you sleep in, so she can enjoy the comforts of a good night's rest. Chloe would prefer a home with a fenced yard or a window where the sun comes in. It doesn't need to be huge - just a small place in the sun for this little girl to soak up her Vitamin D. She uses a doggie door with no problem, is completely house trained and is well past that obnoxious puppy stage of chewing. This is a Princess in every way! She is also currently taking Thyroid Medication, and must be kept on her special diet for the rest of her life so the stones in her bladder do not return . She has Prescription Diet u//d in the can, she may not have any kibbled food. She is in excellent health now and should have no more problems as long as she stays on her diet. Chloe is a going to make a great family companion and looks forward to being spoiled beyond good sense. If you are eager to add a new Princess to your family, then please submit an application today and be sure to specify "Chloe" on it. Her Majesty awaits her new home. This dog is a priceless jewel with all her training and the way she obeys, she's still young and if someone gives her the chance you will have a wonderful companion.

Jojo is a very sweet little girl. She is Heartworm free now after undergoing the treatment, and is also on preventative. She has been spayed and is also microchipped. We can't tell you enough how sweet this little girl is. Jojo has overcome a lot of adversity and has discovered that being a care free dog is a blast. She may have been abused/neglected or both, but wants constant attention. She loves to run and play, not only in the backyard, but also up and down the stairs in the house. She loves to lay on the mat I have laying in the bay window to catch sun rays, or just to watch people walk by. She gets along great with adults and our other dogs. She uses the doggie door and she has not had any accidents inside. She loves to play tug of war, keep away (from the other dogs), and "let's see who I can stalk next". She loves "yum-yums", going bye-bye,and taking walks. She loves her mommy and daddy and Jojo doesn't just wag a tail, she has the whole body wag thing going on when we talk to her. Jojo deserves a quiet home, where someone will be with her most all the time, as she craves your attention all the time. She will make some couple the best companion in the whole world.

Riley is an extraordinarily beautiful boy with an exceptional temperment. He's a big boy at 16.4 pounds and 15" at the shoulder with a very muscular body. He is at the perfect weight and has satiny silky fur and beautiful big brown eyes. One ear almost always stands up with the other one down. We call him Smiley Riley because he smiles a good deal of the time and just seems to be relaxed and happy all the time. He is not hyper by any means, but he loves the outdoors for potty and short bouts of play and has a beautiful gait. Riley is on this date 8/25/08 quarantined in the bathroom due to a touch of kennel cough and has yet to have a potty accident in there. We do know that he doesn't like at all being left alone, so would encourage a situation where he would not be left for long hours or where he is with other like tempered dogs. He will get his shots on 9/1/08, and start heartworm treatment on 9/8/08 with an entire month of quiet time after...so we are talking the middle of October before he can be neutered and adoptable. This boy gives full body hugs, LOVES belly rubs and lives for affection. This is one special dog and deserves only the very best home. Even though he has not been exposed to the other dogs in the house, cats or kids....it appears that he would be good with at least other dogs and older kids 8 and up. When he is doing better, we will test him with cats. He is eager to please and is very attentive to his foster parent and seems to learn very quickly. Any young dog that comes from the shelter begs at least beginner obedience training, and this boy is no exception. He is such a good boy as it is, he should be brought to his full potential. He will make a great addition to that special family.

Dylan: 2 yr old black & rust male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 14", 18 lb. Shots up-to-date. Found as a stray.
Dylan is a very beautiful boy with tons of personality at 14" at the shoulder and 18 lbs. His soulful eyes will steal the heart of anyone with a heart, and his coat has turned out very satiny silky smooth after a bout with sarcoptic mange when picked up from the shelter. Dylan loves with a passion any time you spend with him either sleeping with him, exercising him, or just loving on him. He is very treat oriented and has learned to sit and down at this point. He is only 2 years old and has tons of puppy left in him. This is one agile boy that can jump baby gates, but he does not not jump the 6½ ft. wood privacy fence at his current foster home. Another foster dog dug out one time, and he crawled out through the hole and came right back in when his foster mom called him - and another time he was waiting right outside the gate. Of course, only a couple minutes had passed - but this appears to be very encouraging that he didn't want to run. Dylan is housebroken as long as an alternative is available such as potty pads or newspapers if left for very long hours. Dylan loves the company of other dogs and is very friendly with them. Like most puppies, he will get in their space occasionally and have to be corrected - but there has been no aggression noted ever in this sweetheart. Dylan loves people as well and is majorly friendly with no fears noted. He has not been tested with children, but we would recommend he go to a home with only older children. He also has not been tested with cats. Dylan would do best in a home where people are very active and would be willing to exercise him often and have a secure yard for him to run and play. "As you can guess I am very much a rascal, that is why my foster mom named me Roscoe. I love to be held and carried around and snuggled under the covers when I am not busy protecting the world from dangerous things like squeaky toys, rustling leaves and evil sticks. I may be little, but my attitude is all big dog. If I had a little cape I would be the ultimate MIGHTY DOG!! I am all puppy and am curious about everything so special care will have to be taken to make sure I do not get into things I shouldn't. I'm a good little boy about sleeping in the crate when I need to. At my foster home my best bud is Toby. We play together all the time and try to keep each other out of trouble. He's much bigger than me, but I still need to be the little man in charge. A home with no small children would be best since I bark loudly and it sometimes scares them. Lori is a sweet 10 year old back and rust Min Pin. She is active and happy, she loves to be near her person and is a cuddle bug. She loves everyone. Lori arrived with her life long companion, Leah, but they do not need to be adopted together .
Lori is in excellent health, alert and a fun dog to be around. She is good with other dogs and a bundle of energy but also likes to sit with you. She is a petite girl, at 10 inches tall and 10.5 pounds with the prettiest face around.

Leah: 10 yr old red female, spayed, docked tail and uncropped, upright ears. 10", 10.5 lb. Shots up-to-date. Owner give-up.
Leah is a special needs dog. She is lively and playful and loves to be near her person. Leah was born with a condition called Leggs-Perthes Disease which destroys the hip joint. She has already had successful surgery to correct this very painful condition, and that leg is fully recovered with no problem. The other hind knee has developed severe arthritis, so she walks with a limp and is on pain medication daily for it. She will need twice yearly blood tests for checking on the level of medication. Light exercise is good for her, but she needs a home that will be sure she gets her medication and not overstress her knee. Leah is loyal and protective of her family, has a great appetite, is house broken. She has an underbite but has no trouble eating anything, and the vet said there was no concern there. She looks like a tiny red fox and is just as sweet as she can be. She knows how to use a doggie door. If you can give this little lady a home she will repay you with boundless amounts of love. She would be excellent for a retired person or an older person who is home a lot. She just loves to be a lap dog! She is quiet and would do fine in an apartment. She is good with other dogs (and has always had another dog with her), strangers, cats and children. She came into rescue with her sister (see Lori).

Titan: 7 mth old black & tan male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. Rescued from shelter.
"Hi -- I was named Titan after all of the IMPS volunteers got a vote. It's because I'm a little trooper and a little survivor too, and no one knew my name or where I came from (I was just dropped off at the shelter), and lots of IMPS volunteers donated money for my care! I was picked up at the shelter in Ft. Worth by a really nice lady because I had a bad dog-bite wound and a broken toe and the shelter people couldn't help me.
I'm only 7 months old, and really needed someone to get me to a good doctor and get me some pain medication (fast), and take good care of me so I could be treated for a few weeks --- YIKES!- hydrotherapy and ointments and plastic collars and all kinds of stuff I didn't much like. And then recuperate from the awful things that happened to me. I know it was expensive but people kept chipping in, and I'm almost well now. Well, maybe in 3 or 4 weeks.
I have a big brother who is also a foster minpin, and a sister and brother who belong to my mom but she treats us all the same! They are so nice to me and put up with all (or most) of my puppy behavior. I really want a forever home of my own and I'd be happy to have a playmate, or just be the center of attention.

Nigel: 3 yr old red male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 8", 11.6 lb. Shots up-to-date. Owner give-up.
This is Nigel - Boy wonder of the dog world. Nigel has been through a lot in his short three years and now he's looking for someone that will make his world, comfortable, cozy and safe. Nigel walks with a permanent limp since he found himself in foster care due to having his two front legs broken by his previous owner. They are healed now and he can walk and run almost as well as any of his foster brothers and sisters. He shouldn't be allowed to jump off of furniture, however, and is just as happy lying by your feet. He loves to be cuddled and loved on.
Nigel loves his crate and prefers to take his nighttime siestas inside of one with lots of nice clean blankets. Nigel has a typical terrier personality and would benefit greatly with some formal training. He is extremely focused and has learned to come and sit with the use of a clicker. Once he does something...he remembers it . His indoor manners are very gentlemanly and he does not exhibit any puppy behaviors. He is a bit food/toy aggressive and is going to need someone who is savvy with dealing with the typical terrier temperament. He seems to prefer a female caretaker over a male, although he has no aversion to a pat on the head or being held by his foster daddy.
Nigel's perfect home would be one with a fenced yard for him to run and play in, perhaps one other canine brother or sister and primarily a female caretaker. He loves to go in the car and absolutely loves his toys. He would also do well as an only dog where he didn't need to compete for your affection or his dinner. Nigel is out of an AKC registered litter and is a gorgeous specimen of a little minpin man.

"My name is Jordan, and I'm pretty big at 9 lbs. of good lookin tuff black and rust all kinds of sweet boy! I'm 1-2 years old, and my foster mom says I've got a lot of puppy in me and love to play even though I'm pretty laid back and love to cuddle as much as I'm allowed. Right now, I sleep overnight in a crate with a cushy bed and blanket - but I would LOVE to be able to sleep with my new owner in my forever home. I do love my crate at times with the door left open just to chill out. I generally don't have any more potty accidents inside as long as I'm not left for too long, so sometimes I have to use newspapers. I would really like to go to training class with you and get out and enjoy the good weather days by exercising. I'm more into humans than dogs, so it would probably be okay if you don't have any other dogs....that would just mean I'm Number 1. So far, I haven't been tested with cats or kids, but my foster mom says I would probably do best with older children....and she thinks I would probably do fine with cats too. This is Wera, also known as "Miss Piggy" because of her extreme love of food. Wera is a very special girl, not just because she is blind, but because of her amazing personality. We are not sure if she has always been blind but we do know she doesn't let it get in her way, she plays, runs and does everything else a "normal" dog does. She loves her foster sisters, loves children and babies as well as anyone she meets. No one is a stranger to Wera. If you are looking for a dog who is not friendly, that does not like to sleep in the bed with you or go for walks, this is not the dog for you. Wera is everything you would expect in a dog and then some.

Apollo is a relatively small, very soft and cuddly little guy. He's between 1-2 years of age, very sweet and full of personality. He loves to be around people and loves to be held and loved on. He is completing at the moment his heartworm treatment and should be ready for adoption around mid-February. This is not a very high energy dog and probably could use to lose a pound, but we would love to find a family where he can be very much a part of the family. It would probably be better if he was in a family with only older children only because we feel that is how he would feel most comfortable. He does enjoy going outdoors for short periods of time, but he really loves to perch on the back of the couch and watch TV with you or just be near you. Dallas: 5 yr old red male, neutered, docked tail and cropped ears. 19", 30-35 lbs. Shots up-to-date. Found as a stray.
Dallas is a very large and very elegant boy. He moves with grace and has a personality matched by few. He probably is part german pinscher because of his his size and build. His nose seems to be more min pin, as a german pinscher has a longer nose. He LOVES to be held but being large, is quite content to be at your side with a loving hand occasionally petting his head. Dallas has the most beautiful eyes and makes unusual eye contact and seems to look right through you. He is housetrained as long as he is not left for very long hours and will use newspapers if he is. He enjoys sleeping with you in your bed, belly rubs, cuddles and love on a dime, and he does love toys. He's very protective of his home and will bark but can be easily corrected with a squirt from a bottle with water. He has not displayed any destructive tendencies and stays in a bedroom while his foster parent works a very long day. He also seems to enjoy an open crate full of cushy bedding as a den and little getaway. Dallas has displayed some fear of certain men but will quickly warm up to those that take the time to make him comfortable with them. He also needs some work on the leash as he will pull, and we are working on that. He does love however going for walks and the outdoors. He will require a fairly high fence for security but has not been observed jumping but he does dig and will need to be completely supervised when in the back yard. He gets along well with his foster siblings as well as the resident cats. He, in fact, was found curled up at the shelter with a cat that had been also turned in. He does however do very well with no other animals and loves nothing better than to quietly hang out with his human in the living room or ride in the car. He is more of a human dog as opposed to a dog's dog. He would be fine in an apartment as long as he was walked/exercized a lot as he is pretty much past the very active puppy stage.
Dallas would make a wonderful addition to any family that has the time to devote to him. He follows basic commands and is willing to learn and please. He has great house manners and really looks forward to making your home, his home.

"Hello folks. My name is Buddy and that is exactly what I want to be....your buddy. The one guy that is always there for you whenever you are down and out. The guy that makes you smile every day. The guy that is always happy to see you when you walk in the door. I am a happy guy because I know how lucky I am to be alive. I have had a rough life and by anyone's standard I should be dead...... One time I had a happy home. Then my owners decided they wanted a divorce and instead of one of them providing me a home, they took me to the vet to be put to sleep. Boy was I scared....none of this was my fault..... You see, I have diabetes and need regular shots and I didn't think anyone would take a chance on me because I require a little extra care. However, the vet realized how special I was and decided to contact IMPS to see if they could provide a home for me. I am so grateful to that vet. IMPS came to the rescue and put me with my foster mom who has been so wonderful to me. I have had several health issues since being placed with my foster mom and with each one of them, IMPS has come to the rescue and provided me with any care that I needed. They realize I am a special guy with a lot of love to give someone willing to overlook some of my special needs. I am a diabetic, I have poor eyesight as a result of the diabetes, and I have lost some of my teeth and hair because of the diabetes. Those are just facts I have to live with and accept. Though I have obstacles to overcome, my heart and capacity to love because of these obstacles are greater than any other dog on this website. I am fantastic and patient with small kids. I love all friendly dogs. I love all people. Thanks to a series of people who recognized what a special guy I am, I am still here and still a great dog. I can make your home complete. I can be you best friend....I can be your Buddy if you will only let me."

I get to play with two other min pins and relax in my foster mom and dad's laps whenever I want, but I really need a permanent home where I can be loved for the rest of my life. Here are a few things you may want to know about me: I am 9 years old, black and tan, docked tail, cropped ears, 9 pounds, 11 inches tall, heartworm negative, crate trained, and finally house trained! I am a low key, laid back little fellow that prefers to spend my time curled up on a fluffy pillow, blanket, or comfy lap of a human companion. I like to play with my min pin friends, but can also handle a home where I am the only canine companion. Oscar is an impressive, strong, full of energy, min pin. When it comes to min pin mentally, he lives up to the standard 100% He truly believes that HE is the King of Toys. His foster mom calls him her mountain goat because this boy loves to climb on everything and wants to be in the highest place in the room. His favorite spot is on the back of the couch, relaxing with the cat and gazing out the window. He is a very good watch dog and is always on guard. Oscar loves to go for walks, car rides, and boss the other dogs. Oscar does resource guard and this is something that we are working on and he is showing improvements. His perfect home would be with someone who can continue to work with him and has the patience to do so. He loves to be outside to play and sunbath, so someone who also likes the outdoors would be a perfect match. Edison ("Eddie"): 5 month old black/tan male, soon-to-be neutered and microchipped, docked tail, natural ears. 14" at shoulder, 13 lbs. 80% house-broken; crate-trained. DEAF.
"HI! My foster mom named me Edison after Thomas Edison the inventor. She says he was deaf and still achieved great things -- she says I will, too. I am an energetic 6 month old and I have spent the last 4 weeks at boarding school learning hand signals for basic commands. I'm not totally deaf - I can hear a whistle that tells me when to look at you for my next signal. I know "heel", "sit/stay", "down/stay" and "wait" at doors. I also know "come" - that's my very favorite command so I can come running to you. And guess what? When I reach you, I will automatically "sit" until you say it's okay. How about that?! I have tons of energy, so I either need other young dogs to play with or a very active and attentive human. Mom says I'm a little too rambunctious for young kids, but kids 10 to 12 who are dog smart and ready to run and play ... and play ... and play ... would be terrific! I really want a family of my own that doesn't care about my hearing loss. Mom tells me I will be a great dog for somebody, and if you're ready for an awesome buddy, I'm ready to prove it to you!"
Foster Mom Ginger says: Edison is a very smart, handsome boy. His new forever family will need to learn the hand signals he knows and use a whistle to get his attention. He may take a bit more commitment than a dog with 100% of its hearing, but the reward for your love and consistency will be worth the effort many times over. Emma arrived in Big Spring covered with demodex mange. She had now completed her treatment for that and her hair is grown back black and shiny. She has an infection (cold type) which she is on antibiotics for and in another two weeks should be able to be spayed and then will be ready for her new home. She is very sweet and somewhat shy, and will need a person who can spend lots of time with her until she gains confidence. They are truly precious Puppies and love people. If you are interested in a wonderful Puppy put an application in quickly, as she will not be here for long.

Sassy is one of 2 sister puppies that were at the SPCA and got the demodex mange. They are both full of vim and vinegar and terribly sweet and playful. They are also adorable.
They have had a LOT of trauma in their short life and are coming out of it very well. They are active, playful and very loving. They love people, but are afraid of children although in time with a loving child they would learn to get over it, but I would not recommend them for a child under 8 years. They are absolutely beautiful, with the best min pin prance you ever saw, and look identical. So if you want a sweet, funny little girl get your application in quickly, as she will not last long.

Lottie is a self-confidant little girl who is in need of a lap to call her very own. Lottie has a HUGE personality tucked into a compact, little wispof a girl. She would do well in an apartment setting provided there were long daily walks to keep her slim and trim. She would also love a home with a very secure yard. She loves to roam if by chance there's a small hole to escape by and in fact, this is how she found herself in foster care. Other then that, she's the perfect little roommate.

She is heartworm positive and will be undergoing treatment within the next couple of weeks, therefore she will not be ready for her forever home until the beginning or the middle of July. Cola: 5 years old, up to date on shots and spayed, heartworm negative and on prevention. 11 inches tall and 12 lbs.
The effervescent Cola is a darling girl, very loving with people of all ages and just loves attention. She's very well behaved, knows her commands (come, down, kennel) and is crate trained as well as housebroken. She does bark at strangers approaching her door (especially those pesky maintenance workers). Her favorite spot is curled up behind your neck in your hair. Cola admits she needs a diet plan and will be happy to lose weight if you will take her for walks and feed her appropriately (no snacking, no peanut butter sandwiches - fried or otherwise.) Cola is looking for a family to spend lots of time with. She's very social and would like to be your best buddy. She says she doesn't mind at all being an only dog, but would be happy to have a canine sibling.

Cleo - "ADOPTION PENDING": Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you...... Cleo. Cleo is a 6 month old puppy who is 12-inches tall and weighs 11 pounds.
Cleo is ready for immediate adoption. She is a lovable huggable puppy who is ready for her new home and new family. She is not rowdy or mischievous and strange situations/people/dogs make her nervous but it is nothing a reassuring pat on the head won't cure. She is sweet and lovable and a very-well behaved little girl. She is well on her way to being crate trained and has not had an accident in the house in a while.
She and her brother Elvis (and sisters Emma and Sassy) were rescued in Houston. They were abused and malnourished when they were rescued and were unsure of themselves. A fifth puppy died due to the poor treatment they had received. The puppies were subsequently passed around from one situation to another with no stability causing the puppies to be very unsure of their circumstances. IMPS has provided the puppies very stable environments for the past few months and it has really caused a great transformation in the puppies.
Cleo and her siblings are now fit and happy and ready to go to new homes. Cleo and Elvis are located in Houston and have gone through fostering together where they have are true playmates, best buds, and each other's security blanket. Cleo is much more independent than Elvis but is still very bonded to her brother. They truly are two peas in a pod and get many compliments on how beautiful they are with their big ears that stand straight up and their high kicking prance and beautiful cropped tails.
Though it would be great if they were adopted together, they are confident and loving enough to adopt to new homes separately as long as there is another playful dog to keep them company. Cleo does not chew or bark excessively. She loves the company of people and will follow her new owners around offering to help with chores and tasks. She is happiest when she is with her friends. Elvis - "ADOPTION PENDING": Yes the rumors are true....ELVIS IS IN THE HOUSE. Elvis is a 6 month old puppy who is 12-inches tall and weighs 11 pounds.

Ozzie: 5 yr old black & rust male, neutered, docked tail and cropped ears. 9", 9.5 lb. Owner give-up.
Ozzie is such a handsome little guy. Ozzie came to stay with us 06/12/09 so we could help him find his new forever home. Ozzie learned how to use our doggie door the very first day and has not tinkled on the inside once... we were so proud of him. His previous owners told us he is good with her grandchildren and he had a sister Daisy (shitzu) that he was good with as well. Ozzie is a bit, shy/timid at first but once he trust you he warms up to you. He likes to lay with you on the couch and if we didn't have 5 others in the house he would prefer to sleep with you as well... Ozzie does well in his crate and lets you know when he needs out to potty. We have only night crated him as he uses the doggie door during the day. He is such a sweet, handsome little guy that really deserves to live his life with an ACTIVE loving forever home. Please let me know via email if you are interested in meeting him...

Meggie: Looking for a little bit of chocolate love? Then look no further than little Megabyte - no calories and beneficial to your heart. 8 inches tall, 6 lbs, and 2 years old, this girl came in to care through a cruelty case confiscation with our man Dexter. Both of these dogs were clueless about anything, but their desire for affection over came their fear issues. Both dogs were amazed at being allowed to run in a fenced yard and love being with people.
Meggie is just an endearing little bit of nothing - very sweet natured with a dash of spunk, a tad shy at first, but loves to cuddle and get belly rubs. She likes to get on your shoulder and snuggle up against your neck. She still has a lot to learn, but does know "sit" and "down" for treats. She's learning to walk on a leash. She wraps her paws around your wrist when you carry her and will ooze her way on to your chest and throw herself on her back for a belly rub. Such a tart. And being a min pin, she prefers to sleep in your bed under the covers. She's considerate enough to sleep at the foot of the bed quietly.
Meggie knows how to use potty pads and a doggie door. She can be crated for short periods of time. Considering where they came from, these dogs would be happy never to see a closed crate again. I keep an open crate and she does like to go in and nap occassionally or just get away from the larger dogs.
Since she's such a small girl, I would not recommend her for children. She needs someone calm and loving and who can spend lots of time with with her.

"Hi. My name is Chula (which means cute in Spanish). Well, that is the name my foster mom has given me because she didn't know my name in my previous life. It's taking me some to get accustomed to my new name...but I will get it because I am a smart little girl. I am about 1 year old, 13-inches tall and weigh about 12 pounds. I have natural ears and a natural tail that I just love to wag and wag and wag. I wag my tail because I am so happy. I am so happy because my life now is so much better than it was before. You see, I used to not wag my tail at all. There was a time when I was scared and confused and hurting terribly. My owners didn't want me and were very angry all the time. I was ignored, mistreated, and ultimately burned on my back. The burns hurt so badly, but not as badly as my owners ignoring me and making me feel unwanted and not treating my burns. Then they had Animal Control pick me up as a stray and off I went to the shelter, hurting and lonely and scared. My skin burned and there was no one to hold me and comfort me and tell me it would all be better. Then my world got brighter. The lady from IMPS came and took me home and loved on me and got me these wonderful pills and ointments that made my hurting back feel so much better. I just love the people at IMPS. They make me believe in people again. Now my hair is growing back and I have had all my shots, no heartworms, and have been spayed. Now I can be a fun little dog again. I can play chase and run around with my foster mom's flip flops...but I never chew them because I know that is not what good dogs do. I love to run and run and run and play and play and play. I am so ready for my permanent home so I can give all this love to just one family....my family. Will you be my new family? I am ready to go....just let my foster mom know you are ready for a sweet little bundle of joy and I am all yours.....Hurry!!!! I want to play with you!!!!!!"

Dexter: Meet our man, Dexter. Dex is a whimsical little guy with his own sense of style - he sports a "Mohawk going down his neck from where the hair meets. He is 13 inches tall, 10 lbs, approximately 4 years old, and all legs and personality.
Dex is looking for the right lady...he has a marked preference for women and becomes depressed and withdrawn if men are his only source of company. With women, he's all smiles and attention, and ready to play. With men - sorry guys, he could care less. He will warm up to you and be friendly, but only if his primary care giver is a woman.
Dexter came into rescue after a cruelty case confiscation. He was painfully thin, had several broken teeth and an eyelid that needed repairing. He was either kicked in the face or possibly on the wrong end of dog fight. But in spite of all this, he's a friendly, loving, happy boy - very bright and eager to learn, and oh such a lover! He gets along with other dogs and loves to play, and is ready to go with you at the drop of a hat.
He's doing well in learning his manners on a leash and basic commands. This is very important as he loves to go with you and any time the door is opened, its an opportunity for him to run out it. He doesn't go far, but its a dangerous habit that many min pins have.
He needs a mom with a sense of humor and an understanding of dogs.
Our boy is up to date on shots, Heartworm negative and on prevention, neutered, and ready for his new home.

Bo: 1 yr old black & rust male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 14", 10 lb. Shots up-to-date. Rescued from shelter.
Bo is the sweetest calmest puppy that you will ever meet. You see, that is because Bo's first year was pretty rough. Bo was picked up by the shelter with a dislocated hip and was very thin. The shelter contacted IMPS to see if they could help him, otherwise they would have to put him to sleep. A nice IMPS volunteer came and picked Bo up right away. Bo was very scared, in pain, and not sure what was going to happen next. He was so sad that he would even stand and had lost hope that things could get better for him. The volunteer took him home for a bath and straight to the vet for some x-rays. Bo hip wasn't only displaced but his pelvic born had been crushed and he had been this way for about 3-4 months. The pelvic bone had already fused itself back together but the vet thought she could save his leg! The next day Bo had his surgery and it was a success! Now Bo is working on learning how to use 4 legs instead of just 3. He is working on house breaking and is learning how fun toys are! He is good with other dogs and cats. Bo is now a very happy, loving little boy, and is ready for his new home!

Harley has been sheltered and reacts to all new noises with barking a little more than he should, but will stop once corrected. He also has separation anxiety. Since he was raised by someone who stayed home all day, he has a hard time being left. He is very loving, likes to sleep with mom. He wants to be with you all day long, he is under my desk in his basket, content. Harley plays well with my other min pins, but is a little fearful of large dogs. He was raised with a cat. We would not adopt him to a family with children.

Keta is a lovely well-mannered girl looking for her forever home. Keta's original owners could not keep her due to relocation, and her new adoptive home has ended up being severely allergic to her, so she finds herself looking for another loving family to call her own. She is housetrained and loves to snuggles under blankets, and loves to play outside with other dogs. She was raised around children, so she is fine with them, but in her current home, she can't resist antagonizing the cat, so a cat-free home will probably be best. Keta does have that min pin possessiveness over things like bones and people, so she would do fine as an only dog or as part of a pack depending on the personalities involved. Dasher is a very sweet boy. He is great with kids and gets along well with other dogs and people. He is potty trained with a doggie door. He is a big couch potato! He will get up on the couch with you and tunnel under the covers. He does this little grunting thing when he wants your attention and it is the cutest. My min pin is so jealous of him because we give him lots of love. He is not much of a barker. He likes to go for rides in the car and to be taken on walks. Please note, he is a digger and will dig to escape your yard.

Samantha (Sammi): 10 yr old black & tan female, spayed, docked tail and cropped ears. 10", 11 lb. Shots up-to-date.
SPECIAL NEEDS: Sammi lost her home when her human mama developed a life-threatening illness and had to give her up. She had been with only her mama since she was a puppy. Now Sammi needs someone who will give her a loving and stable home and help her feel secure once again. Sammi is spry and happy. She has special needs because she has a lower back problem that makes her a little unsteady on her feet. She is on medication for this and her back condition is stable at this time. She is able to run and walk easily, she just loses her footing in the back sometimes. She gets along well with other dogs but she chases cats so she should not be in a home with cats. She would be ok with older children who would leave her alone. She was housetrained to newspapers and is learning to do her business outdoors. She will walk on a leash and is fairly tolerant of being in a crate. Sammi does not care for being picked up and can be growly about that, but most of the time she is pretty congenial. If you have room in your heart and home for an older gal who needs an understanding and loving heart, please apply to adopt Sammi.

This is one of the friendliest minpins you will meet and maybe one of the most unusual - chocolate w/ natural ears and tail. She is a little shy at first, but she is a sweet, inquisitive, loving dog. She is paper trained and needs to learn some manners when it comes to begging for food. She loves to snuggle under the covers at night. This pup loves to run around the house and play with toys. She gets along well with other dogs and will make a wonderful addition to your pack.

Raisin is a special dog who is looking for a very special forever home. She has been poked, prodded, scanned and squeezed. Nothing difinitive has been determined as being "wrong" with her. But as you see, she wears a diaper. This is because she has a leak in her plumbing. Her drips do not keep her from being a loving dog and doing typical pin things. She loves the outdoors, riding in a car, cuddling on the sofa, just being with you. She is a very devoted and loving companion. She is energetic and playful..just plain adorable. Carlos is kind of housebroken --- he marks some, and I hope that goes away once he is neutered. He isn't as cuddly as Mama, but he is SO MUCH FUN. He's gotten bigger---he's taller than Mama now, and I haven't weighed him recently, but I bet he's close to 18 pounds!! He is a bit of a digger, but it's not too bad. He isn't as inclined to run away, but if he gets out of the door behind Mama, he sticks with her (which I think is how they ended up together in the first place).

Tucker: 4 yr old black & rust male, neutered, docked tail and cropped ears. 12", 10 lb. Owner give-up.
Tucker is a typical Min Pin, in that he loves to play with stuffed animals (especially if they squeak) and to burrow under blankets. He would love to go exploring and hiking with you. He's great with strangers and usually comes to sit at their feet in the hopes of getting a treat. He is the happiest when he's curled up next to you on the couch or snuggling with you under the covers. He loves to run, chase, be chased, wrestle and play with other dogs and doesn't seem to notice when they're a lot bigger than he is. Throw in a tennis ball, and he's one happy boy! He gets along with some cats, depending on the cat.
Tucker knows some commands, such as sit, come, and stay. He needs help with potty training, as his owners didn't have the time to consistently train him. He's a smart dog and should learn very quickly with someone who will take the time and give positive reinforcement.
The perfect home for Tucker would be with someone who has the time to work with him on potty training and take him out for exercise. A fenced yard would be wonderful and another dog to play with would make him very happy. Children make him nervous, so no kids, please. He has a wonderful, fun personality, and no behavior problems that we are aware of. Tucker is very sweet and we want to find him a home where he can get the time and attention he deserves.

Suzy: 8 yr old black & tan female, spayed, docked tail and uncropped ears. 11", 13 lb. Rescued from shelter.
She is beginning to get her girlish figure back having lost almost 2 lbs already and looking oh so cute! When you talk real cute to her she will cock her head and listen to you like you are saying something ever so important.
Suzy is a cuddle bug, what we call a "pocket pup". She will sleep in her crate at night or be happiest snuggling under the covers next to you. If you want a good tv buddy she will sit right next to you on the couch and watch movies.
She is house broken and does best with a doggie door.
She is very healthy, heart worm negative. She is very friendly with guests and loves to have her belly rubbed by just about anyone. She is a low maintainence gal who will steal your heart if you let her.

Odie: 7 mth old stag red male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 13", 9.12 lb.
This sweet puppy has done a lot of living in his 7 short months. Unfortunately, it wasn't all good. His leg was broken in two places a few weeks ago, but not fixed. He ended up being surrendered at a vet clinic. Then an angel from IMPS came along and took him home with her. Because he didn't get the care he should have when his leg was first broken, it was beyond repair and had to be amputated. The good news is, Odie is doing just fine and was walking on 3 legs the next morning after surgery. He is getting around wonderfully, able to get up the front stairs now and is playing with a ball. He likes to empty out the toy boxes all over the house. Odie is a snuggler and loves to be held. He is very active and will need a securely fenced yard. This guy is an escape artist if left alone-losing a leg hasn't slowed him down one bit. Odie rides very well in the car, enjoys sunbathing in the living room window, likes to be up on the back of a chair or sofa, burrows in blankets, and gets along with other dogs and the one cat he's met so far.
Odie shows some fear and timidity. We think he will get over his bad memories quickly with love and patience. He would do best in a home with no small children, but would love another small dog to play with. He's very smart and obedience class is recommended. Not only are they wonderful for bonding, but they also give dogs a confidence boost, which Odie could use, given what he's been through. He's a very sweet baby with years of love to give some lucky someone. If you think that could be you, please email his foster mom for more information. Odie should be recovered from surgery and ready for a new home by the end of April.

Ace is a great dog who gets along with other dogs and cats. He loves to ride in the car. He is housebroken using a doggie door. He just came into rescue, but so far we have not seen any bad behavior. He was rescued from a shelter.

I love to wrestle, play ball, run and chase around with one of my foster sisters that is just as fast if not faster than any min pin I have ever seen. That is pretty amazing since she is a pug/doxie. I even get along with the cats, though I do like to tease them a bit. I don't know my commands very good, but I am working on them. Ama: 7 yr old stag red female, undocked tail and uncropped ears. 12", 14 lb. Shots up-to-date.
Ama is a puppy mill breeder dog. She was born and raised for 6 years in a puppy mill environment. Given no love or affection from people. When the puppy mill no longer had a need for her they surrendered her. She has since been spayed, had a hernia fixed, micro chipped, UTD on all shots and on heart worm preventative. When she came to live with me in November of 2007 it was the first she had ever lived in a home as a family pet. She was terrified at first. She had no trust and was completely afraid of everything in her new environment. She quickly began to make great strides forward. She figured out the dog door, the dog ramp, stairs, and jumping onto the couch and bed. After a few months she started going into her crate by herself and rarely has any accidents in it. We started seeing her constant look of fear be replaced by moments of joy and happiness. She has a huge heart and once she is close to you she will relax and enjoy your company. She ABSOLUTELY LOVES her foster dad. She also LOVES to sleep in bed. For a dog who is still a little flighty and nervous she would jump through a flaming hoop to get under a blanket. Her entire personality has changed over the last year. She has gone from running for her life to prancing around with her tail up and wagging. We now see a happy, content dog with moments of fear. She really has a very sweet and silly personality. She has also started playing with her foster brothers. Each day she opens up a little more and I can see her confidence growing. We have been doing clicker training with her and she is responding wonderfully. Ama's may never be 100% normal, she may always be a little nervous or jumpy, but she is such a sweet heart. She is fine with kids, but they make her nervous. She will not be placed in a home with small children or in a home with a lot of activity. She is good with cats and needs to be placed in a home with at least one well adjusted dog who can show her by example how to behave. Her leash training is coming along nicely, but she can still have panicked moments so it is essential to have her in a non slip collar or harness while out on a walk. She is not fully potty trained. She will still have an accident if she is not let out often enough or if it is really cold out. I prefer to adopt her to a family with a fenced in yard or someone who will walk outside with her for each potty break. She will not fair well just attached to run and left outside by herself. She gains her confidence by being with other confident dogs or being with her confident handler. If she were left outside on a tie she may become panicked and it would not be healthy for her. She needs to continue her socialization. She loves going to the dog park, it's like going to Disney World for her. While there she prances happily right by my side with an expression of pure GLEE on her face. Ama is really a great little girl who just needed time to adjust to living outside of a puppy mill. She needs to find a family who will be committed to her for a lifetime through the good and the bad. It took six years of living in a puppy mill to create her and it's going to take more than just a few weeks for her to adjust fully. Choe: 1.5 yr old old chocolate/tan male, neutered, docked tail and cropped ears. 14.6 lb. Shots up-to-date. Rescued from shelter.
Choe (rhymes with Joe) is a very sweet boy once he warms up to you. But due to his neglect and isolation as a puppy he is very insecure. He is afraid of men and new situations. He can become panicked by strange people or new comers to the house. He spooks easily and can regress to flight or fight when overwhelmed. His foster mom is currently working with a trainer to learn how to help Choe overcome his fear and insecurity. She is confident he will make a great companion once he learns what is appropriate behavior and what is not. He is a very beautiful guy. He is smart, sweet athletic, and loves to play. He can be a bit of a pest to his foster brothers and sisters as Choe has a lot of energy... even for a Min Pin. His owners would have to watch him around cats and timid animals so he doesn't bully them. He needs to find a home who will be committed to him for the long haul. Choe would like to go to a owner who is up for a challenge and is not easily discouraged by bad behavior. He would do best in a home with no children. He needs lots of exercise. So if someone is looking for a jogging partner, here he is. His new owners will have to take him to obedience classes or meet with a trainer to continue his training & keep him on track. Choe is young, and a work in progress but he's hoping to find an experienced pet owner who will give him the chance he desperately deserves.

Lucy is a tiny girl with a big heart! Lucy is adorable black and tan min pin with docked tail and natural ears. One look at her and she melts your heart. Lucy has spent the last seven years giving birth to litter upon litter of puppies in a puppy mill. She is very shy and timid but shows no signs of agression. Lucy will need someone that understands puppy mill rescues and how much patience is needed to rehabilitate them. She will need someone to give her the love she has never known and diligence to work with her on her housetraining and obedience.

May May is a happy, healthy 5 month old puppy! Every day we do some sort of socialization exercise (she barks at new people some times but warms up quickly, normal amount of shyness for a puppy), work on housetraining (she is learning "go potty" on command), being polite to cats (they don't all want to play), sharing toys with foster brothers, and various other skills. She spends her days at my doggie daycare and has found several BFFs there (both human and dog). Her puppiness continues to awe, amaze, and amuse us every day. We hope she finds her forever home soon so they can enjoy all the puppy fun too!

This little boy is absolutely adorable. He loves to be wherever you are and follows you around or sits on your lap. He'll be your shadow wherever you go. He walks great on a leash and gets along with other animals. He doesn't care for strangers though and I don't think he'd tolerate a small child. He can get aggressive when he isn't shown who the boss of the house is. With a little training and the right owners, it shouldn't be an issue.

Little Chico is waiting to be your next best friend. He is certainly a "moma's boy" as he follows his foster mom everywhere. Chico spent the last 8 years with a wonderful family that sadly had to move away. Chico loves to be held and petted. He will even take his paw and brush your arm when he wants more. Chico is a very smart guy and knows how to give high five and shake. Chico loves to sleep under the covers as lond as he is touching some part of you. Being a middle aged dog means that he is very relaxed and prefers just to sit on your lap and take a nap while you watch t.v. Chico has been around young children and prefers just to ignore them. Chico would prefer a home with older dogs as puppies tend to be a little too rowdy for Chico's relaxed nature.

Taz is a large black & tan 11-mo old purebred puppy in top condition, very friendly with other dogs and people. But no cats please (he tends to chase them) and no small children under 10...even then it depends on the child. He is very fit and healthy. FULL of energy! Listens to commands - knows sit, stay, lay down..
Taz would do great with no children or older children that have experience with dogs. attaches to the man of the house more than the female, so a one man home is good too...

Joey: 1 yr old black & tan male, neutered, undocked tail and uncropped ears, up to date on shots. 12", 10.3 lb.
Joey is quiet, observant and wary when approached. He growls at strangers but has never gotten aggressive. Standoffish with people and other dogs at first but becomes more friendly immediately. He doesn't mind being crated and will sit there quietly until you let him out. He seems to be alright with children that are familiar with how to treat a dog. He's doing well with potty training but will go in the house if you don't pay close attention to him. He doesn't let us know when he has to go, so you must pay attention to his behavior. He doesn't mind the cats in the house and would like to play with them gently if they let him. He walks ok on a leash but still pulls a bit. He plays like a puppy but would also be content sitting on the couch and watching tv with you. He loves chew toys!

Luschia: 3 yr old blue & tan female, soon to be spayed, undocked tail and uncropped ears. 11.5", 11.5 lb.
Luschia, pronounced "Lou Sha", was found abandoned in an vacant apartment in Charlotte, NC. She is fairly quiet and shy, but will growl and bark at certain new people she meets. Once she has a chance to get to know someone she is very friendly and gives lots of kisses. Continuing her socialization will be very important. She can be an intense little thing and will fixate on certain objects, dogs, or people. She is very attached to her care givers, male or female. Her favorite place is to be along side you on the couch or under a blanket. She loves cuddling and snuggling on laps. She loves taking walks and has to work on her pulling. She has a great time going to the dog park. She loves sniffing and running through the tall grass chasing her foster brothers. She gets along with the other dogs, but does not like a lot of rough housing. She is kind of the "mother hen" of the group and will let her foster brothers and sisters know when they are getting too loud or obnoxious. She can be bitchy to other females. It's not all the time and not every female she meets, but from time to time she will get upset with her foster sister. She lives with a cat, but I would not be comfortable saying she is good with cats. She likes to chase and poke them with her nose. She will also hump dogs or cats that are more submissive. Luschia is very responsive to verbal correction and will immediately straighten up when she sees the water bottle come out. She would most likely be fine among respectful children who give her her space, but I would not recommend she go to a family who has their own children under 7. She is potty trained as long as you let her out on a regular basis. She sleeps in her crate at night with only a minor amount of fussing. She has a healthy appetite and it is important to have her on a good food and not to over feed her. She loves chewing on her marrow bones and they keep her teeth pearly white. Luschia really is a very sweet & loving little girl. She is looking for a family who will love her and keep her safe. Riley: 9 mth old red male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 12", 12.8 lb. Shots up-to-date. Rescued from shelter.
Riley is quiet, gentle, amiable and friendly. He gets along with all members of the family, dogs of all sizes (is especially playful with large dogs), most children. Participated in an internal doggie daycare at Durham APS, loved by staff members. Was on the adoption floor until they ran out of room. He is a calm dog, inquisitive, not vocal. Riley is crate-trained and tolerant, young enough to have had a few accidents in the house but aware that he should not. Walks well on leash, follows well, does not pull, can walk on a slack lead. Will potty outside if taken out regularily.

Paolo: 5 yr old chocolate and tan male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 17.5", 21 lb. Shots up-to-date. Owner give-up.
The 1st word that came to mind when Paolo arrived is "Handsome". This is by far the best looking Min Pin I have ever seen. His color, eyes, coat, body, and stance is outstanding! He is very friendly with other people and also great with other dogs including my own, so I believe he would fit right in to any situation in his new home. He is housebroken and crate trained. Paolo loves to just lie around and be near you. He knows some commands like sit and down. While sitting he will try to high five you, which is very cool! We are currently working on his pulling the leash while being walked and not feeling like he has to have us in his sight at all times. One meeting with this dog and he will melt your heart!

Neeko: 7-8 yr old black & tan male, neutered, docked tail and cropped ears. 13", 12 lb. Shots up-to-date.
Neeko is a very sweet soul. He is new to this whole foster thing so he is pretty reserved and confused. He is potty trained and we have had no accidents. He knows his name and sits. He is reluctant to go into his crate by himself, but we will work on that. He hasn't barked since he has been here, I don't think he is comfortable enough yet. He gets along fine with the other dogs, but prefers to sit by the humans. His original owner wasn't very nice to Neeko so he will be fearful of some men but not others. His latest owner took him in when he was about 4 yrs old. In that home he was around another dog, cats, and an 11 year old girl. His family is moving and could not take him. He would make a great companion to anyone looking for a sweet little buddy.

Tyson: 9 yr old chocolate/tan male, neutered, docked tail and uncropped ears. 11", 8 lb. Owner give-up.
Tyson is an "aim to please" kind of guy. Walk or lap time....you choose! Heck! If you're busy he can even cover himself with any old blanket lying around and take a nap by himself! Tyson is an easy going boy that is house trained, crate trained, and shows no aggression towards small animals. Tyson doesn't make much noise unless a new person comes into the house ~ it's his job to warn you isn't it? ~ but he does warm up quickly and makes friends fast. He is fine with children having lived in a house with two small toddlers, and was surrendered because the oldest developing allergies. If you need a few chocolate kisses in your life (0 calorie ones!) contact Tyson's foster mom for more information.
